Brazil at Silicon Valley Inc. (“BSV,” “We”) is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the State of California, United States of America, led by students from Stanford and Berkeley, which aims to improve Brazil’s competitiveness through innovation and technology. We understand that the progress and development of the Brazilian economy depend on the new wave of innovation and technology that has emerged in recent years and has been concentrated mainly in California.
In pursuit of this purpose, we annually mobilize to lead the creation of new products aimed at disseminating cutting-edge content focused on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology. Our main focus at the moment is the Brazil at Silicon Valley Conference (“Conference”), an annual event that brings together the most influential Brazilian executives, business leaders, experts, and policymakers to discuss topics relevant to the country’s technological development. We also produce digital panels, reports, podcasts, and newsletters, which aim to share ideas and perspectives with anyone interested in making a difference for Brazil.
The Conference also includes speakers and entrepreneurs who are not Brazilian. However, this Policy applies only to our guests whose Personal Data has been collected within Brazilian territory.
BSV respects your privacy and recognizes the importance of explaining to you how we handle your Personal Data, that is, information related to an identified or identifiable natural person (“Personal Data”). For this reason, we have created this Privacy Policy (“Policy”) in order to clearly and objectively explain how we collect and process your Personal Data, for what purposes, and with which third parties it may be shared.
According to the Brazilian General Data Protection Law, Law No. 13,709/2018 (“LGPD”), BSV is considered the “Controller” of your Personal Data. If, after reading this Policy, you still have any questions or, for any reason, need to contact us regarding matters involving your Personal Data, you may do so via the following email address: financeiro@brazilatsiliconvalley.com.
Our annual events bring together a very broad audience. Therefore, for the Conference, all those who attend, whether invitees, sponsors, speakers, moderators, students, or patrons, will be subject to the content of this Policy (collectively, “Guests”).
We undertake to collect only the Personal Data necessary to enable your participation in the Conference, including information that may help us resolve potential issues and improve our services. We emphasize that our Guests are specially selected to attend our events in order to provide you with the best possible experience.
Thus, in order to allow registration and identification at the Conference, we may collect the following information: name, pronouns, gender, race, position, company or public agency and industry in which you work, email address, identity card number (RG), tax identification number (CPF), passport number, phone number, date of birth, and address. All such information may be obtained, among other ways, through a form that we will send to you in advance.
During the Conference, video recordings and photographs may be taken, including by reporting teams, for publication on BSV’s pages and social media, to build our database for future promotional materials, as well as for publication on websites and other media outlets. Accordingly, Guests acknowledge that their image and voice may be reproduced in audiovisual presentations, social media posts, internet publications, and physical materials.
It is important to clarify that when we request your information through the form, you will have the option to refuse to provide such information. However, if you refuse to provide your information, it will not be possible to complete your registration for the Conference.

The LGPD establishes several situations in which Personal Data may be processed independently of the data subject’s consent. These are known as “legal bases for data processing.”
This means that, in some cases, we may collect and process your Personal Data without your consent (where there is a legal basis under the LGPD that allows us to do so), such as for the performance of a contract with you, compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, the regular exercise of rights in contracts or judicial, administrative, or arbitration proceedings, or to meet the legitimate interests of BSV or third parties, among others.
In other cases, we will request your consent to use your Personal Data. It is important to note that the withdrawal of consent will only require us to cease the processing of Personal Data carried out exclusively on the basis of consent.
We store your Personal Data securely in locations with restricted access. Your Personal Data is stored in third-party data centers that may be located in the United States, Europe (Ireland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Finland, and Belgium), Chile, Taiwan, and/or Singapore.
